Contact Lens Evaluation Fees

All patients who wish to receive a new contact lens prescription or have a prescription renewed must pay a contact lens evaluation fee. The following are some answers to common questions regarding these fees:
Q. Why is there a fee?
A. The contact lens fitting fee is assessed due to the extra time and testing necessary to properly care for a contact lens patient including but not limited to assessing lens fit, ensuring proper lens power, and patient education and training on proper lens care. The fee covers all contact lens-related follow-up visits for 90 days.
Q. Will my insurance cover the evaluation fee?
A. Most insurance plans DO NOT cover the evaluation fee. VSP and Premera Microsoft will allow for the fee to be paid from the overall contact lens allowance. This can only be done if contact lenses are ordered at the time of the initial eye exam.
Q. How much are the fees?
A. Fees for most lens types are as follows:
Lens Type
Spherical Soft Lenses
$89
Soft Toric Lenses for Astigmatism
$89
Soft Multifocals
$139
RGP Multifocals
$189
Contact Lens Training (for new wearers)
$30
Q. How often do I have to pay the fee?
A. All patients who wish to renew their contact lens prescription or have a new prescription must pay a contact lens evaluation fee. Unless there is a medical reason, prescriptions will be valid for a period of two years.
